New members of the Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club

Paul, Peter, Phil, Simon and Tricia completed the Three Peaks of Yorkshire challenge in eleven hours.

.....you had to be there during the Infusion walking weekend in Ingleton (1-3 May) to truly appreciate what this means! However, we did think it might make a great title for a book.

Five of our group completed the Three Peaks Challenge in around eleven hours (earning them membership of the Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club) and the other five completed the AP Whernside Challenge (twelve and a half miles) in considerably less time. Although the teashop quota was low this weekend, a number of us did make the semi-obligatory stop at the Long Preston Rohan shop. [photos to follow soon]

Ever since Infusion walked Ingleton last August, the more energetic of the group have wanted to try to "do" the Three Peaks in a day! So Ingleton Youth Hostel has been booked again and Infusion is in training. Though some of us are more realistic and will only attempt one or two of the peaks in a day.....

It would have been nice to title this Infusion walks the Three Peaks but only three of our number managed that (although a further three managed two out of three Peaks). However the sixteen participants on the 2008 Infusion Walking Weekend all made it up Ingleborough.

Our stay at Ingleton Youth Hostel (lower pic) was made more interesting by the boiler breaking down on Tursday so there was no hot water on Friday night / Saturday morning. As the Hostel was full, four people stayed in a B & B (top pic) - although the proximity of a sign saying "Elderly people" may give the wrong impression!

Infusion walking weekend 2008

An Infusion walking weekend is planned for early August. We will be based at Ingleton Youth Hostel. The plan is to walk Ingleborough Hill and Whernside (10 miles approx) on the Saturday and then have a more leisurely stroll on the Sunday. Naturally there will be a tea shop stop at some point! Contact Simon & Tricia to book your place by Sunday 6th April at the latest.

Infusion Teaching Weekend (3)

At the recent Infusion Weekend Away, one quote that impacted on me and that I jotted down was "offer your heart to God in a soft and tractable state lest you miss the imprint of his fingers". I searched for the full quote and spotted "Offer to Him your heart in a soft and tractable state, and preserve the form in which the Creator has fashioned you, having moisture in yourself, lest, by becoming hardened, you lose the impressions of His fingers". This comes from Irenaeus' writings Against Heresies in Book IV, Chapter 39. We can often struggle with obedience to God, but this presents the challenge slightly differently - its sad to miss out on a touch in any friendship, but to miss out on a transforming touch from the One who created us because we have hardened our hearts against Him is truly soul-destroying.

Infusion Teaching Weekend

Using the theme The Transforming Friendship: The Key to Prayer, David, Helen and Alan helped us look at prayer. Eyam Youth Hostel looked after us well and the classroom arrangement worked well, as did the DIY sandwiches.

Although we decided it was too wet to walk on Sunday, a number of us went on a walk led by Andrew on the Saturday. And we managed to fit in a teashop stop in Eyam before the evening session.

Weekend Away 2007

The Infusion Teaching & Walking Weekend is making a comeback over the weekend of 25th- 27th May. We'll be based at Eyam Youth Hostel and the Revs David & Helen Newman from Emmanuel Church will be leading interactive sessions on the topic of The Transforming Friendship: The Key to Prayer.
